This Is Not a Government Office. Nelson County Criminal History is privately operated. It cannot retrieve or correct a record, conduct an official background check, accept an expungement filing, or issue a certified document.
Need an Official Record?
Use the official Nelson County or Kentucky contact that matches the record:
- Court files and certified dispositions: Nelson Circuit Court Clerk, Nelson County Justice Center, 200 Nelson County Plaza, Bardstown, KY 40004; 502-348-3648; weekdays 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. See criminal court case records for request details.
- County administrative records: Nelson County Judge Executive's Office, 1 Court Square, second floor, Bardstown, KY 40004; 502-348-1800; weekdays 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The county form may be mailed to P.O. Box 578, Bardstown, KY 40004, or emailed to openrecords@nelsoncountyky.gov.
- Sheriff-created records: Nelson County Sheriff, 210 Plaza Drive, Bardstown, KY 40004; 502-348-1840. Ask whether that office created the requested incident or arrest record.
- Booking and custody information: Nelson County Correctional Center, 810 W. Stephen Foster Avenue, Bardstown, KY 40004. An official current jail telephone number was not located in the project research; Kentucky VINE is the documented statewide custody channel.
- Centralized criminal history and official KSP checks: Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, 1266 Louisville Road, Frankfort, KY 40601.
- City police reports: contact the police or city custodian that created the report; Bardstown, New Haven, and Bloomfield records do not automatically belong to Fiscal Court.
- Expungement: obtain the required Kentucky certification, then file through the clerk for the court that handled the case.
There is no single county-level records counter. A signed judgment comes from the Circuit Court Clerk; a sheriff incident report begins with the Nelson County Sheriff; a booking record belongs to the correctional center; and a Fiscal Court record uses the Judge Executive's open-records channel.
