Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside company operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results; Nelson County Criminal History does not keep its own log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email may be retained as needed to answer it. Its contents are not disclosed beyond the operating team unless disclosure is legally required.
Data We Gather Automatically
Ordinary server and analytics logs may capture technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view dates, times, and duration
- Device type and operating system
- Browser name and version
- IP address
- Pages viewed
- A referring website, when one is supplied
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files used to understand aggregated traffic patterns, including popular pages and points where visits end. Analytics providers assist with that measurement. A browser can reject cookies, although doing so may change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Route a submitted search to the selected outside provider
- Maintain availability and page performance
- Diagnose errors and security problems
- Measure which resources visitors use
- Support advertising, which may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Nelson County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides directions to the Nelson Circuit Court Clerk, creating law-enforcement agencies, the Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a third-party dossier or consumer report, and this website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. A query submitted there is governed by that company's privacy policy and retention practices, not by this policy. Visitors should review the provider's terms before entering a search because this website does not control how the provider handles it.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Nelson County offices, Kentucky court and agency portals, legal resources, or commercial services. The destination's own privacy policy applies after a visitor leaves this website, so it should be read before personal information is provided.
An advertising company may use its systems to recognize activity across websites for interest-based advertising. That tracking is administered by the advertising company.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be disclosed to:
- A search partner processing a query submitted to its tool
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- Advertising networks serving advertisements
- A court, law-enforcement body, or government agency acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards are applied to information under the site's control. No internet service can guarantee complete security, however, and this policy does not promise that an intrusion or loss can never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be removed after a valid request.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with a visitor's residence and applicable law. In Kentucky, the Kentucky Consumer Protection Act, KRS 367.110 through 367.300, supplies state consumer-protection rules. The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs records held by public agencies; it does not turn this private website into a public agency. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to information held about that visitor
- Ask for inaccurate information to be corrected
- Seek deletion where the law permits it
- Object to eligible forms of processing
Updates to This Policy
A revised policy becomes available on this page with a new effective date. Visitors should consult the current version to understand the practices then in effect.
